Gambling operation broken up at Marlin convenience store, police say

An undercover investigation that lasted nearly a year ended with one arrest and the seizure of nine gambling machines, the Marlin Police Department announced Thursday.

MARLIN, Texas — A year long investigation into an alleged gambling operation at a Marlin convenience store culminated in the arrest of one person, the seizure of nine gambling machines and $15,000 in cash, according to Marlin Police.

Marlin Police along with the Falls County Constable's Office served a search warrant for Gambling and Promotion of Gambling at the Qwik Stop gas station at 303 Bridge St. around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Police said for close to a year an undercover officer was able to use gambling machines in a hidden room in the back of the building.

In addition to the gambling machines and cash, police said they seized one vehicle and suspected drug paraphernalia from the store.

Police arrested Gagandeep Kaur at the store and charged her with Gambling Promotion. She was booked into the Falls County Jail.

Police said Kaur was in the U.S. on a temporary Visa. After further investigation, police said they learned she was under investigation for other illegal activities but did not provide specifics.

Police said no one would be allowed back into the store until their investigation was complete.

Police said they had multiple arrest warrants for other people allegedly involved in the operation.
