China Springs High School teacher battling cancer wins Teacher Giveaway

Despite undergoing rigorous chemotherapy treatments, Faulkner has not taken a single day off from her teaching duties.

CHINA SPRING, Texas — Amidst her battle with stage four cancer, Mrs. Amy Faulkner, an esteemed Honors and AP English teacher at China Springs High School, woke up a winner this morning.

Faulkner, who has dedicated 21 years to educating young minds, emerged victorious in the school's "Taking Care of Teachers" giveaway.

Despite undergoing rigorous chemotherapy treatments, Faulkner has not taken a single day off from her teaching duties. Her unwavering commitment to her students and her passion for teaching propelled her through difficult times.

"I have to be there for them, to explain, to talk, but also to listen," Faulkner expressed. "The kids give me that reason to get up every morning and go to work."

Faulkner's resilience and dedication did not go unnoticed. As the latest winner of the giveaway, she secured a Domino's pizza party not only for herself but for the entire school staff.

"Making a difference in the kids' lives is why I continue to teach," Faulkner said.

For Faulkner, teaching is more than a profession—it's her calling. She emphasized the invaluable support she has received from her colleagues at China Springs High School, likening them to family.

"The staff here has always been there when needed," Faulkner said.
