Oglesby ISD greets kids, parents with parade

The parade included a school bus and 18 vehicles.

OGLESBY, Texas — The shelter in place order and cancellation of classes throughout Central Texas is taking its toll on parents and students, so Oglesby ISD decided to show the kids how much they miss them and love them.

Misti Dobbins Sanders is the principal for the district and organized the parade but she said, so many had a hand in making it special.

"I may have organized it but so many staff members and community members wanted us to do it," she said. "Our Superintendent drove the bus and we all followed him."

The parade took the staff around the city of Oglesby and was a chance for teachers to see the smiling faces they all miss so much during an uncertain time and to bring the community together while practicing social distancing.

"We had a lot of students and families outside and those that lived out of town lined up the streets downtown," Dobbins-Sanders said. "It was absolutely wonderful to see the kids’ faces light up when we came through honking, waving and yelling."
