Baylor Scott & White Health was named one of the 2017 Best Workplaces in Health Care by Great Place to Work, in partnership with Fortune.
The announcement, which was made Wednesday, was based on nationwide feedback from nearly 88,000 employees at a wide range of healthcare organizations covering industries from biotechnology to pharmaceuticals. This was Baylor Scott & White's first time receiving the national honor.
Baylor Scott & White ranked high for employee satisfaction and was said to attract strong talent in the healthcare field. Eighty-two percent of employees who were surveyed anonymously called the company a great place to work.
"We're honored to be named among the top companies in the country providing people an exceptional employee experience," Jim Hinton, president and chief executive officer of Baylor Scott & White Health said in a press release. "We want this to be an organization all employees describe as the best place they have ever worked."
A vast majority -- 92 percent -- of employees said Baylor Scott & White was a safe place to work. And, nearly one in nine employees expressed a sense of pride in the organization's accomplishments and its community involvement. Eighty-seven percent of employees said they were proud to tell others they worked there.
"A recognition like this underscores the commitment we have to our vision of being the most trusted name in giving and receiving safe, quality, compassionate health care," John Lacy, chief human resources officer at Baylor Scott & White Health said in the press release. "We hear from our employees that working at Baylor Scott & White fulfills a calling, and we are proud this dedication to the organization's mission is a strong part of our culture."
Baylor Scott & White was formed in 2013 after a merger between Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare. As of April 2017, it was the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas.
