13 stolen vehicles found at 'chop shop' in Freestone County, deputies say

Deputies said they found an area used as a "chop shop" to strip down vehicles of their most important parts. The vehicles are unusable.

FREESTONE COUNTY, Texas — The Freestone County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook Tuesday it found 16 to 20 vehicles, at least 13 of which were stolen, in the northwest part of the county. 

Deputies said the location was used as a "chop shop" to strip the vehicles of their most important and valuable parts. The vehicles are unusable, the sheriff's office said.

Most of the vehicles were Ford trucks stolen between December 2018 and March 2019, and they were stolen from outside of the county.

"Due to the size and investigative needs of this investigation, the FCSO has requested the assistance of the Heart of Texas Auto Theft Task Force to work without criminal investigators," the Facebook post said.
