WACO, Texas — On Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Interstate-35 lanes traveling north and south will close as the contractor continues to work on the Forrest Street U-turn bridge, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
TxDOT said traffic heading north will detour off I-35 at exit 335 C, MLK Boulevard and re-enter I-35 near US 84, Bellmead Drive.
Traffic going south will detour off I-35 at a temporary exit near Elm Avenue, and re-enter I-35 at university Parks Drive, TxDOT said.
Both the MLK and University Parks intersections under I-35 will be closed to traffic crossing the interstate during the work. TxDOT said drivers should plan alternate routes to get from one side of I-35 to the other in this area.
Loop 340 will be available as an alternate route for long-distance traffic during the closures, TxDOT said.
TxDOT said warning signs will be in place to assist drivers, and remember to obey all warning and detour signs signs in the work zone.
