McLennan County Emergency Assistance District says not to call 9-1-1 unless there is an emergency during solar eclipse

This will allow any situation that requires immediate attention to get the proper response.

MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — The McLennan County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District is asking community members to help keep the 9-1-1 lines open for emergencies requiring immediate response during the solar eclipse on April 8.

The district says unless there is an emergency requiring immediate police, fire or medical assistance, please don't call 9-1-1.

According to the district, by residents not calling for non-emergency issues, first responders will be able to provide aid to those in need very quickly.

The district stated, "We thank you in advance for your cooperation and for being a conscientious member of this community. Together we can maintain responsive emergency services for all. 9-1-1 Call if you can, text if you can't."
