66-year-old man identified as victim in deadly Temple crash

Temple PD said they believe the driver was trying to make a U-turn when they were struck by another vehicle.

TEMPLE, Texas — A 66-year old man is dead after a vehicle crash in Temple, TX according to the Temple Police Department.

The Temple Police Department has identified the victim of Thursday’s crash as 66-year-old Jimmy Louis Crathers of Temple, on Dec. 8.

Temple PD said officers were called south of the Avenue H overpass on the southeast loop around 3:21 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.

According to Temple PD, an initial investigation suggests that a driver tried to make a U-turn in the middle of the loop when another vehicle hit the driver's side door.

The driver of the vehicle that tried to make the U-turn is dead, according to Temple Police, and another man who was a passenger in the car was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the other vehicle did not report any serious injuries, according to police.

Temple PD said officers shut down the southbound lanes on the loop and were diverting traffic to East Adams Avenue. At the time of writing the roads have now been reopened.
