Which high school in Texas has what it takes to be regional barbecue champion

This weekend at the Bell County Expo Center teams from across the state descend on Belton for The High School BBQ Cookers Association Regional Cook Off.

Mirror mirror on the wall which Texas high school barbecue team is the best of them all. That question will be answered this weekend at the Bell County Expo Center as teams from across the state descend on Belton for The High School BBQ Cookers Association Regional Cook Off.

There will be between 10 and 12 high school teams competing. Each high school team will cook ribs, brisket, chicken, a dessert and dry pinto beans and all are coming with their barbecue strategy.

"Find a person in your community who has been cooking barbecue for a while and learn from them," said Bruceville-Eddy team member Kade Illian. "They might not give out their recipes but they usually are willing to help get you started."

The pros will also be on show cooking up their best ribs, chicken and brisket.

All excess barbecue from the competition will be going towards helping feed the homeless in the area.
