McLennan County Board of Judges appoints Rob Swanton

Swanton is going to assume his role as the General Associate Judge on March 1.

MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — In a meeting held on Wednesday, Jan. 24,, the McLennan County Board of Judges announced the appointment of Rob Swanton as the new General Associate Judge.

Swanton is going to assume his role as the General Associate Judge on March 1.

His set to replace Judge David Hodges, who assumed the role of Associate Judge in Oct. 2018, following the approval of the position's creation by the Commissioners Court.

As the new General Associate Judge, he is responsible for overseeing all Specialty Court Programs. These programs include the McLennan County Mental Health Treatment Court, McLennan County DWI/Drug Treatment Court, and McLennan County Veterans Treatment Court.

County Judge Scott M. Felton expressed pride in the establishment of specialty court programs, stating, "The Commissioners Court is proud to have established the specialty courts programs and to continue to be active in helping with solutions for the growing mental health challenges in our community."

Local Administrative District Judge Gary Coley, Jr., echoed the significance of reassigning responsibilities to one judge.

"Reassigning the responsibilities to one judge is a shift that will allow these courts to grow and have an even greater impact on our community. The judges are thankful for the support of the County Judge and the Commissioners in our efforts to grow these programs," stated Judge Coley.
