KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen Police Department has released the identity of the deceased individual involved in the recent in-custody death. The individual has been identified as LaTonya Thomas, a resident of Killeen.
On Mon, Oct. 9, the Killeen Police Department made an arrest involving a 54-year-old female. Following the arrest, she was transported to the Killeen Police Department Jail and placed within a holding cell.
According to jail officials, they discovered that the female was unresponsive, prompting an immediate response. Officers started life-saving measures while awaiting the arrival of paramedics. Killeen paramedics then transported the individual to Advent Health.
Despite their efforts, medical staff at the healthcare facility, pronounced the female as deceased.
Texas Rangers, have taken the lead in investigating the circumstances surrounding Thomas's passing. The investigation remains active, but authorities have refrained from disclosing further details at this time.
