Temple Police searching for suspects in apartment complex shooting caught on camera

Video shows four individuals walking by a carport inside the Canyon Creek Townhome Complex before one of them draws a gun and begins firing shots.

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Police Department is working to identify four individuals caught on camera after one of them allegedly fired multiple gunshots in a townhome complex in Temple, TX on Sunday, Feb. 18.

The video, posted on the Temple, TX City Watch Facebook page, shows the four individuals inside the Canyon Creek Townhome Complex around 11 p.m. walking by a carport before one of them draws a gun and begins firing shots.

Shortly after, Temple Police were reportedly notified about the gunfire and confirmed one car windshield was struck.

Temple Police Department Public Information Officer Megan Price said at this point they "do not know anything about the suspects", including whether they were juveniles or not. Temple PD is reportedly working to identify the people involved.

In the video, the suspects can be seen running out of the frame after shots were fired.

"We do not know if this incident is involved with gang activity, we're not there yet in our investigation," Price said.  "We take these cases and these incidents very seriously whether they involve children or adults."

Residents at the complex confirmed to 6 News they heard the shots fired but all declined to speak with us on camera.

"We did see the video, we do have the video of the footage, so that's still part of the investigation," Price said.  "Identifying those suspects and seeing what can be done."

Price said that based on the video evidence, they are investigating the shooting as a deadly conduct violation.  If an arrest is made, the suspect could face anywhere from a year of jail for a misdemeanor to up to ten years if they're charged with a felony.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the shooting is asked to contact the Temple Police Department or the Bell County Crime Stoppers.
