Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer has the support of his teammates

Brewer is entering his junior year with the Bears.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Charlie Brewer has the chance to be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12 this season.

At the moment, not a lot of people are talking about the junior signal caller. Instead, the bulk of the focus has been on the quarterback down in Austin and the one up in Norman, Oklahoma.

Brewer's teammates said at Big 12 Media Days not to sleep on their QB.

"I do feel like Charlie is underrated, and I do feel like he will surprise a lot of people this year," Baylor senior WR Denzel Mims said.

He won't be surprising any of his fellow Bears because they already know what he's capable of.

"I think he's the best quarterback I've ever seen. He shows it every day," Mims said. "He comes and competes every day. He loves the game and he loves his team so he's going to do everything he can to make sure we win."

Baylor running back JaMycal Hasty said Brewer's determination is what makes him special.

"Charlie is gonna be a dog, I've been saying that. Charlie is a savage," Hasty said. "He's a winner, he's a ultimate competitor. He plays with so much fire, he plays with so much edge. It's contagious. You want to go out there and sell out for a guy like that."

Of course, all of Brewer's teammates had great things to say about him.

But what did Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger have to say about him?

"He hangs out at the house all the time. I've been friends with him since high school, it's really cool that us Austin area guys are competing against each other in the Big 12," Ehlinger said. "It's been awesome to develop our relationship and see him have success at Baylor, I'm really happy for him."

Ehlinger added that there's never any trash talk between the two. He said it's all love.
