Did the Rangers inspire the best Super Bowl commercial of 2024? We like to think so

DALLAS — Creed is enjoying a revival of sorts, and let's be honest: Your Texas Rangers have something to do with it.

The Arlington ballclub's Creed-fueled run to its first World Series title put the late-90s/early 2000s rock heroes back in the spotlight. And around the same time, ironically enough, Creed announced it was heading back on tour.

So now that brings us to Thursday, when Paramount Plus dropped the early frontrunner for Best Super Bowl Commercial of 2024. Remember, this is what happens now – the most viral commercials for the Big Game are often dropped well before the game even happens.

It was easy to see why Paramount was antsy to drop theirs on YouTube. The two-minute spot is kind of genius.

Promoting the streaming app's slew of offerings, the ad featured Star Trek's Sir Patrick Stewart, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Nickelodeon cartoon legend "Hey Arnold," Peppa the Pig and Drew Barrymore.

And Creed.

The premise is that the random cast of Paramount-related characters finds itself stuck on "Paramount Mountain," location unknown, as Tagovailoa tries to toss a rope and axe over a cliff. He just can't do it, but suggests that maybe if it was a football ... and then the group turns to cartoon Arnold and his football-shaped head.

At this point, describing it any further wouldn't do the commercial, or Creed's appearance in it, much justice. So take a look for yourself:

We can only hope Arnold came out of the ordeal OK, and that the Paramount band of misfits made their way back to safety.

The clip went almost instantly viral, well ahead of next week's Super Bowl. But take it from us and the occasional runner who tried to test him, Adolis Garcia has a much better arm than Sir Patrick Stewart.
