List of cooling centers open in Central Texas

So far, the City of Harker Heights, Killeen and Waco opened up cooling centers.

WACO, Texas — As temperatures continue to reach triple digits, a few Central Texas cities opened up cooling centers for folks to get out of the heat.

The centers are listed below:

Harker Heights

Recreation Center, 307 Millers Crossing

  • Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Sundays

Harker Heights Police Department, 402 Indian Trail

  • Open 24/7
  • Contact: 254-953-5400

Killeen

Moss Rose Community Center, 1103 East Ave. E

  • June 20 to June 22 from noon to 5 p.m.

Crisis Shelter, 412 E. Sprott St.

  • June 20 to June 22 from 1 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • It will open earlier if any mid-day temps are above 100 degrees

Waco

The Waco Multi-Purpose Center, 1020 Elm Ave.

  • June 20 to June 26 from noon to 8 p.m.
  • Air conditioning, seating, bottled water
  • Crated pets also welcome
