Weather Aware 101 | How to report flood damage to home, business

The Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM, urges Texans to report any damage from flooding and storms using their damage assessment report tool.

TEMPLE, Texas — If you're a Central Texas homeowner or businessowner that's experienced damage to your property from recent flooding, the state wants to hear from you

The Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM, urges Texans to report any damage from flooding and storms using their damage assessment report tool. In turn, this helps local, state and federal officials determine disaster assistance eligibility and resource needs.

The tool is called iSTAT (Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool) and it only takes three minutes or less to report damage and is available in both English and Spanish. 

ISTAT is available here -- or you can scan the QR code below.

Then, select the "Spring Severe Weather and Flooding" option to get started on your report.

"Disaster Assistance is not guaranteed, but this is the first step in determining whether we qualify for individual disaster assistance," the Bosque County Office of Emergency Management shared on Facebook Wednesday.

Note that reporting through iSTAT doesn't substitute reporting damage to your insurance company.
