GoFundMe created for children of Temple residents who died in alleged shooting

A neighbor is raising money for two Temple children after their parents died on March 23, police say.

TEMPLE, Texas — A GoFundMe has been created in support of two Temple, Texas children whose parents died in an alleged shooting on March 23.

According to the Temple Police Department, 36-year-old Jasmine Armstrong was shot and killed in Temple on Saturday, March 23 in the 1900 block of Broken Shoe Trail.

Temple PD identified the suspect as 38-year-old Britain Armstrong. Police said they located the suspect's vehicle, which crashed after a short pursuit. When police approached the car, they reportedly found Britain Armstrong with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said Armstrong did not survive.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Scott Huntley, who says he is a neighbor of the Armstrongs, has created a GoFundMe accepting donations for the children who lost their parents.

Huntley said he took care of the children after they were displaced from their home, and says they have now been "safely relocated with family members".

Huntley is asking for donations to provide assistance to the children "during this transitional period and onward".

In a post on Facebook, Huntley said donations can also be brought to 1906 Broken Shoe Trail. He is asking for donations of shoes, children's clothes, supplies and cosmetics. Clothing sizes to be donated are reportedly boy's youth size 6t, shoe size 13 and girl's youth 10-12, shoe size 3.

Huntley said the family will be back in the area "later this week", and any and all donations will be delivered to the family.
