WACO, Texas — A Waco woman has been indicted on multiple charges, including murder, in the death of an 8-month-old child in October 2023.
On Feb. 29, Nichole Ann Green was indicted by a McLennan County Grand Jury on charges of murder (enhanced), hindering apprehension (enhanced), Possession of a controlled substance, To-wit: methamphetamine (enhanced) and Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, To-wit: methamphetamine (enhanced).
According to an affidavit, Green was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, and charged with murder and endangering a child.
According to the affidavit, Waco Police Department officers responded to the report of a dead child on Oct. 12, 2023. Police said the 8-month-old child was found unresponsive in bed with her mother at the scene.
Police said officers searched the home with a K9 unit and found signs of drug use and sale inside, including packaging materials, a scale and hiding boxes they said are commonly used by drug dealers.
The affidavit states that officers were alerted by confidential informants shortly after the child's death to notify them that they should search for methamphetamine since Green was suspected of possessing ounces of it at the time.
According to the affidavit, Green has a known history of drug abuse, including a car crash while high on methamphetamine.
An autopsy was ordered for the child since there was a lack of evidence to determine the cause of death.
According to the affidavit, the cause of death was ruled accidental, due to the toxic effects of methamphetamine in the infant's blood.
Green was reportedly taken into custody without incident.
