Transformation Waco will continue services to schools after Waco ISD approves contract

Transformation Waco serves four Waco schools, providing services like social workers, health care, afterschool programs and more.

WACO, Texas — Nonprofit organization Transformation Waco will continue its wraparound services to Waco ISD schools next school year, according to a statement by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Robin McDurham.

In a statement to Transformation Waco families, staff and the community, McDurham said the Waco ISD School Board approved Transformation Waco's contract for the 2024-2025 school year at a recent board meeting.

Transformation Waco is a nonprofit organization that attempts to address "out-of-school barriers to learning by providing access to free afterschool programming and tutoring, onsite mental health therapy, eye examinations and glasses, early childhood programs for parents and on-campus telehealth care."

Transformation Waco currently serves Alta Vista Elementary, Brook Avenue Elementary, J.H. Hines Elementary and G.W. Carver Middle School.

McDurham said the new contract means "the continuation of afterschool programs, free eye exams and glasses through The Bernard and Audre Rapoport Vision Center, licensed clinical social workers for mental health support, telehealth services with Waco Family Medicine, legal support from Greater Waco Legal Services, the early childhood program at Inspiración, the School Readiness Initiative at Estella Maxey, Parent Universities with Grassroots Community Development and a host of other community-partner programs."

McDurham also said the organization plans to extend its services to more students and schools.

"I’m grateful that the board and WISD value our wraparound services and impact on improving student outcomes at Alta Vista Elementary, Brook Avenue Elementary, J.H. Hines Elementary and G.W. Carver Middle these past six years," said McDurham in the statement.
