Copperas Cove PD identifies 29-year-old motorcyclist killed in deadly crash

According to police, several witnesses stopped on the scene to provide first-aid.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — The Copperas Cove Police Department identified 29-year-old Brandon Wayne Fitzwater of Kempner, Texas, as the motorcyclist who died after crashing on Sunday, April 7. 

According to police, officers and fire crews responded to the 1200 block of the US 190 bypass around 8:29 p.m. to the report of a crash involving a motorcycle. 

Police say once officers arrived, they began interviewing witnesses who told them they saw Fitzwater traveling westbound at high speeds. Witnesses say Fitzwater lost control and crashed into another car, causing severe injuries, according to police. 

Copperas Cove PD says Fitzwater was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. However, he later died due to his injuries, police say. 

According to police, several witnesses remained at the scene to administer first-aid before EMS arrived. Once EMS got there, medical personnel took over. 

Copperas Cove PD says this crash is still under investigation.
