Parks, campground around Stillhouse Hollow Lake to indefinitely close due to heavy rainfall

A cleanup of debris around the closed areas will need to be done once the floodwater recedes.

BELL COUNTY, Texas — Editor's Note: The attached video aired on May 13.

As Central Texas continues to struggle with heavy rainfall throughout May, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has stepped in and announced they are closing off multiple parks and a campground around Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

The parks and campground that are part of the temporary close include:

  • Dana Peak Park
  • Cedar Gap Park
  • Stillhouse Park
  • Union Grove Campground
  • River's Bend Park

None of the boat ramps to Stillhouse Hollow Lake are open, according to the Army Corps of Engineers. The organization also says the closure is to keep the community safe and protect park roads and electrical systems.

A cleanup of debris around the closed areas will need to be done once the floodwater recedes in order to have the lake and parks safely opened for public use.
