Central Texas FLAG movement provides relief for those on the front lines

Central Texas Front Line Appreciation Group, or Flag, is helping local restaurants and those on the front lines during this pandemic.

BELTON, Texas — Central Texas Front Line Appreciation Group, or FLAG, started a few weeks ago and has already gained a lot of support.

The movement was started by Randalyn Bailey and the goal is to help those who need it most during this pandemic.

Through donations, the group is able to purchase food from local restaurants. They then provide meals to doctors, nurses and first responders.

This week, Cen Tex FLAG was able to serve 90 pre-packaged meals from La Luncheonette in Belton to ER staff at BSW.

Bailey said if she helps just one person, it's all worth it.

"Everyone is getting hit pretty hard with the economy and then you have the healthcare workers who are taking care of us despite risk of infection. So I just wanted to do my part," Bailey said.

The group also plans to expand and help other local businesses like hair salons and boutiques too.

Bailey said it's important that those working hard in our area know just how much they're appreciated. The group is getting more and more support online and hopes to have more volunteers soon.

If you can't donate your time, donations are also welcome on their GoFundMe page.

"There's something about a morale boost, something about knowing that you're loved and appreciated. It just does something for you," Bailey said.
