Killeen PD identifies, arrests 53-year-old murder suspect

According to police, his bond is currently set at $150,000

KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Police Department arrested 53-year-old Larry Lamont Hawkins and charged him for the murder of 26-year-old Deante Treshawn Hawkins.

According to police, on Saturday, March 23, officers were called to the 3500 block of Rusack Drive in response to a shooting around 7:53 p.m. Upon arrival, officers says they found Deante Hawkins suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite officers taking life-saving measures, Deante Hawkins was pronounced dead at 8:38 p.m. 

Police say Larry Hawkins, who was at the home during the shooting, was arrested and taken to the Killeen City Jail. 

According to police, this incident was related to domestic violence and there is no other threat to the community. 

The Robbery-Homicide Unit presented this case to the Bell County District Attorney's Office, which resulted in Larry Hawkins arraignment. According to police, his bond is currently set at $150,000.
