Reward offered for information on murder of Hillsboro woman, family seeks justice

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of 27-year-old Deonshira "Deon" Slider's murderer.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of 27-year-old Deonshira "Deon" Slider's murderer.

Slider was killed Friday morning at her apartment in Hillsboro, in front of her 4-year-old son.

According to Sliders family, she was heading to her mother’s house for breakfast when she was gunned down inside of her car.

Her father, Tony Slider, said he says no parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child.

"It don't get easy. It seems like it's getting harder every day,” said Slider. “Number one, you still have no answers and nobody is talking."

The 27-year-old was killed outside of her home at Crestridge Apartments.

"It was cruel,” Slider’s Grandfather Joe Brooks said. “It was cruel, but I do know this, somehow some way whoever it was is going to pay."

Police said the investigation is on-going and they are asking the public for information that could help solve what they called a "horrendous murder."

"You can't feel sorry for someone who gunned down someone with their child in the car. You will never understand the pain we feel," cousin Tomeka Womack said.

Slider’s family said this opens another wound for them. Sliders brother died in a car accident almost 12 years to the day of her death.

There will be a vigil and balloon release on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Crestridge Apartments.

If anyone has information please contact the Hillsboro Crime Stoppers at 254 580-9120 or Detective Orozco at 254 582-8406.
