According to a nearby resident, the road typically floods following heavy downpours.

TEMPLE, Texas — State Highway 36 has been reopened after an oversized load fell off its trailer and killed two people on Saturday, April 27.

According to nearby resident Heather Reaves, trucks, semis and cars are all getting stuck on Whitehall Road due to flooding caused by the weekend's heavy downpour.

Reaves says the road is really torn up and already in need of repairs, so this heavy influx of traffic is now magnifying the issues.

According to Temple Fire, the oversized load weighed about 350,000 pounds. It had fallen off its trailer and pinned a car with three people inside.
