Baylor track and field coach Michael Ford to lead Team USA in 2024 Olympic Games

The upcoming 2024 Olympic is set to start with the Opening Ceremony on July 26.

WACO, Texas — Baylor University's track and field program received great honor as head coach Michael Ford was chosen as the men's sprints/hurdles coach for Team USA in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Ford, who has been in Baylor's track and field program for over two decades, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to coach alongside the nation's top talent in France this summer. 

Previously he worked with Olympic gold and silver medalists, including Trayvon Bromell, Jeremy Wariner, Reggie Witherspoon, Sanjay Ayre, and Darold Williamson.

He joins USATF men's head coach Stanley Redwine and a distinguished coaching staff, including Nic Petersen, Gary Aldrich, and Mike Marsh.

Reflecting on his selection, Ford said, "I am truly grateful, thankful, and blessed to be selected to the USA Paris Olympic staff. I have been on a few international teams before, but the Olympic Games is a huge honor."

With experience both as an athlete and a coach, Ford's career at Baylor has been marked by remarkable achievements. As a two-time 4x400-meter relay national champion during his time as a Baylor student-athlete, Ford brings firsthand experience of success to his coaching role.

The upcoming 2024 Olympic is set to start with the Opening Ceremony on July 26, with the men's sprints events kicking off on August 3. The closing ceremony will take place on August 11.
