KILLEEN, Texas — A 37-year-old man died late Monday night after running a red light and crashing into another vehicle, according to the Killeen Police Department.

Police said they got the call about the crash at the intersection of East Rancier Avenue and North Roy Reynolds Drive around 11 p.m.

When police arrived, they saw "major damage" between a red pickup truck and silver sedan, police said.

Upon investigating, police learned that the red pickup truck was going westbound on the inside lane of Rancier Avenue when the driver of a silver sedan going northbound on the inside lane of Roy Reynolds Drive "disregarded" the red light and struck the truck, police said.

The driver of the silver sedan, 37-year-old William Jimmie Thompson, died of his injuries shortly after, police added.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police added.
