Dolly Parton's Imagination Library expands to McGregor area

Imagination Library of Waco says it expects to enroll over 80 children within the first 12 months, and over 400 by 2028.

MCGREGOR, Texas — Imagination Library of Waco has announced that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library will expand to a seventh Waco-area zip code, thanks to a sponsorship from Rocket Federal Credit Union (RFCU).

According to Imagination Library, the new expansion will allow all children in the 76657 area code, in the McGregor area, to receive one free age-appropriate children's book per month from their birth until their fifth birthday.

Imagination Library says they expect to enroll more than 80 children from the new zip code within the first twelve months, and over 400 by 2028.

"RFCU's ongoing support of the program will ensure that all children in McGregor have the opportunity to grow up surrounded by a house full of books," said Imagination Library in a release.

RFCU's sponsorship of the expansion was first announced at The Great Waco Duck Race on Oct. 8, Imagination Library of Waco's first major fundraising event.

"We are so thankful to Terry Sloan, CEO of Rocket Federal Credit Union, who made this possible. Our long-term goal is to sustainably grow Imagination Library to all of McLennan County and RFCU stepped up to make that a reality for the McGregor community. We are excited to send more books to even more children," said Executive Director Noelle Baker.

Imagination Library said all children ages 0-4 in the 76657 are code are eligible to enroll in the program, with no further requirements. If enrolled at birth, Imagination Library says children can receive 60 books by their fifth birthday.

"Imagination Library of Waco is excited to play a role in providing resources to families in these communities to foster a love of reading and learning. This long-term program facilitates parent-child bonding time and gives pre-school children the foundation for reading success as they enter kindergarten," read a statement from Imagination Library.

Parents or grandparents can enroll children between the ages of 0 and 4 online at http://www.ImaginationLibraryWaco.org. Children born at Ascension Providence can reportedly enroll and receive their first book before leaving the hospital. Imagination Library of Waco also enrolls children at various community events throughout the year.
