Gas leak fixed | Two apartment complexes evacuated, power shut off near S. 2nd Street in Waco due to gas line leak

The Waco Fire Department said the gas leak was fixed and the scene is clear.

WACO, Texas — Oxford Park Apartments and Bandera Ranch Apartments were evacuated Thursday afternoon due to a gas leak in the area, the Waco Fire Department said.

Waco Fire said it could be "several hours" before the gas leak in the 2400 block of S. 2nd Street is fixed. The gas leak was fixed and the scene was cleared by Friday evening around 8 p.m.

At 12:13 p.m., the department received a call about a 12-inch gas line leaking underground in the area, causing authorities to evacuate the two apartment complexes.

Authorities also shut off power in the area as a precaution.

Fire and hazmat crews monitored the scene while Atmos Energy dug to assess where the leak was located.

No one was injured.
