Waco ISD boosts nearly 200 teachers pay through Teacher Incentive Allotment

According to the school district, these teachers are nearing a six-figure salary.

WACO, Texas — Waco ISD announced that close to 200 of its teachers have received an increase in pay due to the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).

The TIA, which is designed to recruit, support and retain highly-effective teachers, has given these teachers a boost in pay to reward their dedication and growth within the district.

In Spring 2023, 110 teachers were given pay boosts through the TIA, and Spring 2024 has seen an additional 80 teachers benefiting from this program.

Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon stated, “This year, we're excited that we're going to give out approximately $2.5 million in incentive pay to our teachers who were TIA designated. These are the best of the best. They’re skilled teachers, and they have gone above and beyond to complete the validation process."

Currently, the TIA has three tiers: Recognized, Exemplary and Master. Each of these levels have an increase in pay. According to Waco ISD, several of these teachers are now earning over $90,000 annually.

"Teachers who have qualified for the Teacher Incentive Allotment are reflective, set high expectations, and engage in leadership. Their mindset is to adjust their teaching methods to meet student needs while sharing best practices with other educators, " Deputy Superintendent Dr. Josie Gutierrez stated.
