WACO, Texas — From June 27 through June 30, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the southbound mainlanes of I-35 between Forest Street and 18th Street.

From US 84 to 18th Street, a number of daily and overnight closures, including those of cross streets and U-turns, southbound entry and exit ramps and all southbound I-35 mainlanes, are planned in order to carry out these operations.

Workers will start closing cross streets and U-turns in the early afternoon, entry and exit ramps in the late afternoon and southbound main lanes around 7 p.m.

To assist in directing traffic, police officers will be stationed at each blocked junction, as well as at the entry and exit ramps.

Prior to departing at BUS 77, traffic on the southbound frontage road will be routed onto the main lanes close to North Loop 340. (Exit 337).

Drivers between North Loop 340 and US 84 will still have access routes to local hotels and businesses, according to the city. Near 18th Street, drivers will be allowed to re-enter southbound I-35.

TxDOT recommends avoiding the area by using Loop 340 to go around Waco or finding alternate routes. Additional information on the closures below:
