TxDot announces several road closures for City of Waco

Starting March 14 through March 18 the following roads and lanes will be closed as part of the I-35 reconstruction project.

WACO, Texas — Several closures will begin March 14 through March 18 as the Texas Department of Transportation continues to reconstruct the I-35 northbound mainlanes and overpasses throughout Waco.

Behrens Circle

Construction will close Behrens Circle from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. until March 15.

TXDOT says alternative routes will be available via southbound Frontage Road where drivers can turn around at the next intersection. Westbound traffic will be directed to the northbound Frontage Road where drivers can turn around at the next intersection. 

U-turn at Behrens Circle 14

TxDOT has also announced starting March 14 through March 18 there will also be road closures of the north to southbound U-turn at Behrens Circle 14. 

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.the roads will be closed for landscaping work, according to TxDOT. The U-turn will be closed for short periods of time and will reopen the U-turn as progress in construction is made. 

Drivers will still be able to use the signalized intersection to turn around.

8th-4th/5th Sts-Downtown-U. Parks Dr.-MLK Bvd.

Closures will also include the northbound I-35 exit ramp for 8th-4th/5th Sts-Downtown-U. Parks Dr.-MLK Bvd. (Exit 334B). The lanes will also be closed from March 14 to March 18 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

The closure is for crews to continue paving the northbound I-35 mainlanes. Drivers will be directed to exit at 18th-17th Sts (Exit 334A), according to TxDOT. 

Like always, TxDOT encourages drivers to pay attention, mind their speed and eliminate distractions while driving through work zones.
